Fruit Typing Challenge

Fruit Typing Challenge is a typing game I made where you type the names of fruits before time runs out. You earn points for correct answers and try to beat your high score.

About the Game

The idea is simple: a fruit name appears, and you have to type it correctly before the timer runs out. Each difficulty level gives you a different amount of time, so you can start with an easier level and work your way up to the harder ones.

I made the game with keyboard and screen-reader accessibility in mind.

Game Modes

• Easy: 20 seconds to type each word.
• Medium: 10 seconds to type each word.
• Hard: 5 seconds to type each word.
• Insane: 3 seconds to type each word.
• Endless: Keep playing as the time limit gets shorter.

Other Features

• High scores: Try to beat your previous scores.
• Background music: Listen to music while playing.
• Keyboard controls: Play using the keyboard, with screen-reader accessibility in mind.

The Upcoming NVGT Rewrite

I’m working on rewriting Fruit Typing Challenge using NVGT. The new version is planned to include more features, including a custom game mode and other improvements.

One of the main reasons for the rewrite is to give me more room to improve the game in the future. NVGT also allows me to support multiple platforms. Along with Windows, I plan to make the rewritten version available for Linux and macOS users too.

When the rewritten version is released on itch.io, the current Python version will become free for everyone to play. This means you can try the original version first and decide whether you want to purchase the rewritten version.

The new features and improvements will be part of the NVGT rewrite. They may not work with the current Python version, so please keep that in mind when downloading translations or other files.

How to Play

1. Choose a difficulty level.
2. Read the fruit name that appears.
3. Type it correctly before time runs out.
4. Keep playing and try to get a better score.

The English translation template, Fruit_Typing_Challenge_translation_template_en.txt, is included in the game’s docs folder. You may also be able to download it separately from this website.

Important: Translation files may be intended for the NVGT rewrite and may not work with the current Python version. Please check which version a translation supports before using it.

The French, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese translations were generated with AI. They may contain mistakes or awkward wording and have not necessarily been reviewed by native speakers. Corrections from fluent speakers are welcome.
